Rydell donates more than $70000 to Grand Forks Police Department IMPACT Academy - Grand Forks Herald

Rydell Cars announced Dec. 15 it has donated the Grand Forks Police Department IMPACT Academy with a check for $70,968.

The check was given as part of the Rydell Annual Charity Benefit Car & Bike Show, where employees vote for their favorite local charity to receive a donation via the show’s proceeds. All of the money donated at the show goes toward the chosen charity, including a company match of up to $40,000.

Cpl. Jessica Thorlacius and Cpl. Jay Farmer, school resource officers, created the academy as a summer program for middle school students. The acronym IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Partnership, Accountability, Community and Tenacity.

This summer, students participated in activities throughout Grand Forks, such as planting a garden and touring businesses, including the police department, fire department and the juvenile detention center.
