In this spirit, this year the India Gender and Inclusion Platform is organizing an event on December 7, 2021 from 5.00-6.30 pm (IST) in partnership with the Lighthouse India Consultative Group on Women Economic Empowerment, “Pushing for Impact: Policy, Program and Workplace Innovations in India to address Gender Based Violence, to bring together the compelling experiences of government, civil society and the private sector and draw lessons for replication and wider impact. We are spotlighting interventions from the state of Andhra Pradesh to tackle GBV, focusing in particular on the police and WCD departments; highlighting how Civil Society Organizations can address GBV issues in communities through strong engagement with the government systems and finally, learn about how organizations, including from the corporate sector, are working towards making workplaces safer and empowering for women.
The idea is to send a positive message- that there are strong experiences and examples to address GBV from within India and across the sectors that need to be acknowledged, and for there to be commitment to replicate these for wider impact. We have also made a deliberate effort to get more male speakers and presenters to emphasize that we need men as important stakeholders in the GBV work that we do!
