Biomedical science has made huge strides in the past 25 years in understanding how the human body works. New scientific understanding has drastically affected how endurance athletes train and eat.
Join the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Basic Sciences’ monthly Lab-to-Table series for a conversation about science and cycling. The discussion will touch on athletes’ personal experience with training, coaching and medicine in cycling and how biomedical science has shaped their efforts.
The virtual event will be Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. CT. Registration is required.
Moderated by Matt Tyska, Cornelius Vanderbilt Chair and professor of cell and developmental biology, the conversation will include:
- George Hincapie, former professional cyclist, 17-time Tour de France rider, owner of Hincapie Sportswear and a member of the THEMOVE podcast,
- Bobby Julich, former professional cyclist, Tour de France veteran, Olympic medalist, cycling coach and host of the VeloNews Put Your Sox On podcast, and
- Kevin Sprouse, head of medicine for EF Education-NIPPO Pro Cycling and sports medicine provider for PGA golfers, NFL and MLB players, Olympic track and field athletes, and more.
