Recovery Resource Center to open
The Santa Cruz County Emergency Operations Center on Friday announced the opening of a joint
federal, state and local Recovery Resource Center to help residents impacted by the
CZU Lighting Complex fire connect with the resources needed to recover and rebuild.
The center opens Saturday at Kaiser Permanente Arena, 140 Front St. in Santa Cruz. The center’s hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, according to a Santa Cruz County news release.
Representatives from numerous agencies will be on hand at the center to answer questions about disaster assistance programs and other support to help families. FEMA, CalOES and numerous federal, state and local agencies and nonprofits will also be located at the center.
Residents can register with FEMA for federal disaster assistance at the center. They can also
access information about the rebuilding process, debris removal, utilities, insurance,
community and social services, getting new documents that may have burned in the fire,
and other resources.
It is not necessary to visit a center to register for and receive federal disaster assistance. Help
is available online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the FEMA helpline at 800-621-
3362.
Numerous services will also be made available online through a community recovery
page, which will be available at santacruzcounty.us.
Disaster survivors who are deaf, hard of hearing or have a speech disability and use a TTY
may call 800-462-7585 to register. Those who use 711 or VRS (Video Relay Service) or
require accommodations while visiting a center may call 800-621-3362. The Recovery
Resource Center is ADA-accessible.
Free two-hour parking will be made available by the city of Santa Cruz on sections of the Laurel
Street Extension, Front StrNeweet and Spruce Street adjacent to the arena. Social distancing
is required.
