Toronto FC will become the latest MLS team to return to individual player training on Monday, but the Montreal Impact are still waiting on clearance from their regional health authorities to do the same, according to media reports.

In Toronto, after club GM Ali Curtis told the Toronto Sun last Friday he hoped authorities would permit his players to return to BMO Training Ground, the Ontario provincial government enacted an emergency order that allowed NHL, NBA, MLB, MLS and CFL players to return to their teams' respective facilities.

That would appear to clear the way for Toronto players to attend any individual activities on Monday, in accordance with MLS' decision to allow voluntary individual workouts at team facilities beginning last Wednesday. Prior to Wednesday, the COVID-19 pandemic had halted all training since mid-March.

Montreal was hoping to do the same, but the Impact's request was denied by Montreal regional department of public health.

"The decision from [Montreal] Public Health is surprising, mainly because the club's proposal includes a protocol for the resumption of training that makes the Nutrilait Centre truly cleaner and more secure for the players than any public space in the city," the club told The Journal of Montreal in a statement.
