Why Ian Mitchell models his game after Duncan Keith - NBCSports.com

In honor of the 10-year anniversary of the 2010 Stanley Cup team, NBC Sports Chicago is re-airing each of the Blackhawks' 16 postseason wins from the run that ended a 49-year championship drought. You can join the conversation using #HawksRewind on social media.

After dropping both games in Philadelphia, the Blackhawks regained the series lead at home with a 7-4 win over the Flyers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final. Here are three things we noticed in the win:

1. A roaring start

Game 5 was an unbelievably crucial game for the Blackhawks. Win and you buy yourselves two more chances at winning the Stanley Cup. Lose and you're going back to Philadelphia in an elimination game.

The Blackhawks knew that and they came flying out of the gates. They led the first period in shot attempts (26-10), shots on goals (13-7), scoring chances (11-5) and high-danger chances, according to Natural Stat Trick, and at one point were up 10-0 in scoring chances.

The Blackhawks scored three goals in a 5:58 span during the second half of the opening frame, and the Flyers were forced to replace goaltender Michael Leighton for Brian Boucher to start the second.

2. Big Buff flexes his muscles

Dustin Byfuglien's 2010 postseason was a memorable one. His performance in Game 5 against Philadelphia may have been his best one yet, given the stage.

He scored twice, added two assists, recorded six shot attempts (four on goal) and had a game-high nine hits, which included one on Chris Pronger that is still shown in highlight reels today.

3. A special teams clinic

On the surface, the Blackhawks went 2-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill and that's a good recipe for success. But the timing of them were crucial.

The Blackhawks and Flyers were tied 0-0 when Philadelphia got its first power play of the game, but Chicago killed it off and eventually capitalized on its power-play opportunity shortly after to make it 1-0. The Blackhawks eventually scored the next two goals to make it 3-0.

In the second period, the Flyers scored twice in a 4:08 span to pull within 4-2 before getting another power play. A goal on that man advantage would've closed the gap to one and who knows how the game unfolds in that scenario.

Finally, fast forward to the third period. It's a 5-3 game and the Flyers went on the power play at the midway mark. The Blackhawks killed it off, then shortly after Patrick Sharp scored to put his team up 6-3 and that was essentially the end of it.
