Nature’s Educators has teamed up with Colorado Healing Acres to open a Nature Center at 4498 Bear Paw Drive in Florence.
While the facility is still under construction to constantly be improved and bring in more displays, it is now open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. beginning Saturday.
Nature’s Educators will have some reptile, amphibian and invertebrate ambassadors on display as well as some other interesting wildlife artifacts. The displays will grow and develop as donations come in to help pay for them. Colorado Healing Acres will have a gift shop open as well for folks to stop in and shop.
The facility is offering public programs (RSVP required) starting this month including Talon Talk – meet live raptors – at 7 p.m. Aug. 29. Space is limited. Register for the event at http://natureseducators.org/naturecenter/.
Nature’s Educators will also be holding its annual fundraiser, Feathers of Fury, from 2-9 p.m. Oct. 2 at the nature center. There will be live music, food trucks, drinks, silent auction, photo booth, and of course…live raptors.
Funds from the classes, fundraisers and donations will go toward caring for the animal ambassadors as well as growing the nature center and its displays. While visiting the center is free, donations are encouraged to help care for the animals and keep the doors open.
Folks are also welcome to reach out to Nature’s Educators to book private events at the nature center, and a variety of programs are available.
