COLONIE – Police responded to Colonie Center on Saturday morning after a 911 call stating that an armed person was heading to the mall.
Colonie police were notified at 10:53 a.m. of the anonymous caller, who according to police, abruptly hung up after making the statement about the armed individual.
Colonie police said it was their "understanding that no lockdown of the mall was ever instituted" but "some individual stores decided to close on their own."
"Colonie Police Officers responded to Colonie Center and met with mall management," Colonie police said in the press release. "A safety plan was put in place and officers are currently stationed at the mall out of an abundance of caution.'
The origin and intent of the 911 call is currently being investigated by Colonie police.
