Finalists were announced Tuesday for more than $267,000 total from five grants that will be awarded later this year by Impact 100 and Impact 100 NextGen.
The finalists were revealed by Impact 100 Director Linda Wahl during a ceremony held at the Salvation Army, which was a 2019 grant recipient.
Five nonprofits were named finalists for two $100,000 grants:
- Western KY Botanical Gardens
Project: “Path of Hope & Healing” - Girls, Inc.
Project: “Getting Grounded and Safe” - St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter
Project: “Living with Dignity” - Dream Rider’s
Project: “Happy Feet” - Daniel Pitino Shelter

Three nonprofits were named finalists for two $28,250 grants:
- Owensboro Community and Technical College
Project: “Full Steam Ahead!” - Fresh Start for Women
Project: “Transformation of the Keller House” - Cliff Hagan Boys and Girls Club
Project: “Teen Center Expansion”
Two nonprofits were named finalists for one $11,000 grant to be awarded by Impact 100 NextGen:
- Hospice & Palliative Care of Western Kentucky
Project: “Children’s Grief and Healing: Caring Bears Book Series” - Kentucky Wesleyan College
Project: “Build a Bed”
“No matter what projects are chosen to receive grant funding, they are all winners in our community,” Wahl said. “It is our hope, and it has happened many times in the past, that through Impact 100’s recognition, the community may see their value and step up to support their very important work.”
Awards will be decided on Oct. 14 when Impact 100’s members will come together in person at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum and virtually via Facebook live stream for the organization’s annual meeting.
Each finalist will offer a 7-minute presentation about their organization and related project. Members will be able to read about each organization and project in advance of the annual meeting.
Impact 100 Owensboro is a community of women that seeks to transform lives in the Greater Owensboro area through high-impact and lifelong giving and is celebrating its 16th year providing grants to local nonprofit organizations. NextGen is awarding a grant for the fifth year.
“We are so grateful to our members for seeing the value in the work done by nonprofits in our community,” said Beth Clements, Grants Committee Chair and Impact 100 Owensboro’s President-Elect. “We have so many amazing organizations in Owensboro that strive to make our community a great place to live. These nonprofits offer such a broad range of services to meet almost any need. It is our privilege to be able to work alongside them and aid them in their mission.”
