Development activity for the future Amazon distribution facility at the Broome Corporate Park in the town of Conklin is continuing.
Construction crews have been busy at the Carlin Road site over the last several weeks.
Amazon is leasing nearly 66,000 square feet at the former Matthew Bender distribution center, which employed more than 100 people at the site before it was closed.
County and town planning officials approved the project last spring. The facility would utilize only a portion of an existing large warehouse structure at the site.
Town supervisor William Dumian said Amazon has "moved quickly" in making preparations for the distribution center.
Dumian said Amazon originally indicated it was aiming for a mid-November completion date for the project. Company officials could not be reached for information on when the facility is expected to be operational.
Amazon has posted jobs online for the Conklin site, including operations managers and support engineers. It's not know exactly how many people are to be hired for the distribution center.
