This week Arizona Serve, an AmeriCorps Program of Prescott College, delivered hundreds of puzzles, crafts, games, books, and handwritten cards from the greater Prescott community. Items were collected during the month of March and donated to over 425 homebound isolated seniors.
In honor of AmeriCorps Week, which celebrates the impact National Service members are making in the area and Nation, items were collected to benefit 5 senior care facilities and 125 homebound individuals. Middle school students at Northpoint Expeditionary Learning Academy assembled the care packages that will be distributed by local outreach agencies.
“This was really a team effort highlighting the power of collective impact with over 35 families, 8 businesses, and countless students pitching in to make this a reality,” said Annie Reifsynder, Director of Training and Member Experience at Arizona Serve.
Arizona Serve would like to extend a warm thank you to everyone in the community who made this possible including RHGRE BloomTree Realty, Arizona County Real Estate, Coldwell Banker, Sew-N-sew Fabrics, Pioneer Title Agency, Daylight Donuts, Prescott Area Association of Realtors, Dorn Mortgage, Guild Mortgage, People’s Mortgage, Fairway Independent Mortgage, Empire West Title Agency, New American Funding, Academy Mortgage, Union Bank, Prime Lending, Nova Home Loans, and Northpoint Expeditionary Learning Academy.
The organization plans on holding more drives throughout the year to benefit as many community members in need as possible and always invites the community to participate. Arizona Serve is also beginning its summer AmeriCorps roles. Community members 17 and older are needed to assist area nonprofits and government entities for 300-hour service terms.
