BLOOMFIELD, NJ- After a tumultuous 2020, many brick and mortar businesses have seen a significant slowdown in foot traffic and sales. 

Small Business Saturday is celebrated on the day after Black Friday.  Small Business Saturday started as a campaign launched by American Express on Nov. 27, 2010, to help small businesses gain exposure and to inspire consumers to shop within their own communities during the holiday season. Over the years it has grown significantly and has helped draw many costumer away from big box stores and led them shop at locally owned businesses. 

The Bloomfield Center Alliance is promoting Small Business Saturday in a fun way with the Bloomfield Center Holiday Hunt, where attendees will find holiday cheer through shopping, music, and ice sculptures.

The Bloomfield Center Holiday Hunt will start at 2PM today at Six Points Plaza (address for GPS: 574 Bloomfield Ave). The day will kick-off with holiday music, hot cocoa and pastries, and a photo-worthy ‘Bloomfield NJ’ ice sculpture which will be on display at the Six Points Plaza (intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Glenwood Avenue). Upon arrival at the Plaza, attendees will receive a Bloomfield Center Map showing locations of the downtown’s various Holiday Hunt Destinations.

The Bloomfield Center Alliance has given a breakdown of what can be expected today. 
 

From 2-2:30PM performers from Nicori Studios will be singing holiday carols at Six Points Plaza. As you pick-up your Holiday Hunt Map, you will be able to enjoy the music, grab a hot chocolate or coffee, and take a picture with a GIANT Bloomfield NJ Ice Sculpture! If you arrive after 2:30PM to Six Points Plaza, we'll still be here to give you your map and DJ Tre Smooth will still be playing holiday hits to greet you! From 2:30-5PM you'll be welcomed at Bloomfield Center's unique, excellent Holiday Hunt Destinations as you search for holiday gifts for family and friends (or for yourself!) and everyone on your list! Shop and make sure you grab a sticker from the owner for your map and get your receipt before you leave the store! From 4PM-5PM, as you finish shopping, you can return to Six Points Plaza where Jimmy Chiappa, the Ice Sculpture King, will be live carving a Bloomfield Bengals paw starting at 4PM. DJ Tre Smooth will be on-site to keep the holiday vibes flowing as we wait to announce our prizes! 5PM - We'll announce our 3 prize winners. Everyone that visits 5 or more stores and/or spends $20 or more will be entered into contest to win! Feel free to stay and visit one of our local restaurants for a warm drink or meal.
