PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — President Trump was in full campaign mode on Monday from the time he woke up, with a barrage of tweets to his return to the White House.
But what role will his recovery play in the election?
KDKA’s John Shumway took to the streets to find out what people had to say.
President Trump’s Coronavirus diagnosis has already knocked other topics off of the headlines, from the Supreme Court, to white supremacy, to the first Presidential debate, to the rising case counts of COVID-19, so one can argue that it’s already had an impact on the narrative.
But the question now is, will the President’s bout with Coronavirus impact the actual election?
The general consensus among those asked were that they don’t see much impact from it.
Reactions in the street ranged from “I dont think it will have any” to “I don’t think so, most people already made up their mind” to “I think his followers are following him regardless of anything.”
Watch as KDKA’s John Shumway reports:
It seems fair to say that people feel strongly on both sides of the election.
But when humanity steps in and a person gets sick, does it soften the feelings people have?
Some people clearly feel some compassion is needed, while others don’t.
One person said that they love him and think that “we need him.”
Other responses weren’t as compassionate, saying that “I still think he’s an idiot” and “I don’t think my opinion can get any lower.”
Watch as KDKA’s John Shumway reports:
One point that should be made is that even those whose compassion was a bit thinner than others, with one exception, they don’t wish ill will on the President.
