For The Enterprise
ROCKY MOUNT — Ice House Entrepreneurial Mindset classes originally planned for the spring and postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic will return to the Small Business Center at Nash Community College this fall.
In partnership with the Entrepreneurial Learning Initiative, Eastern N.C. Center for Business and Entrepreneurship at North Carolina Colleges, Rocky Mount Area Chamber of Commerce, Station Square and NC IDEA, the Ice House program aims to ignite the entrepreneurial mindset and cultivate an entrepreneurial culture.
The Ice House program is an experiential, problem-based learning program designed to inspire and engage participants in the fundamental aspects of an entrepreneurial mindset. ELI is the program’s creator and ELI founder Gary Schoeniger is the co-author of the program’s companion text, “Who Owns the Ice House? Eight Life Lessons from an Unlikely Entrepreneur,” a story that captures the essence of an entrepreneurial mindset and the opportunities it can provide.
“An entrepreneurial mindset shifts every day thinking into a new framework, empowering people to identify problems and deploy solutions using creative and critical thinking, effective problem-solving, communication and teamwork,” Schoeniger said. “And, in today’s rapidly changing, highly complex world, the need for entrepreneurial thinkers at all levels of society has never been greater.”
Ice House participants will learn to:
• Identify and evaluate opportunities that others overlook.
• Transform a simple idea into a sustainable success.
• Embrace an entrepreneurial mindset as a life skill.
• Identify and overcome self-limiting beliefs.
• Interact with local entrepreneurs for critical guidance and support.
The Ice House Entrepreneurial Mindset program will be held every Tuesday beginning Aug. 4 and ending Sept. 8. Classes are scheduled from 6-9 p.m. with a free dinner served at 5:30.
Classes will be held at Station Square in downtown Rocky Mount. Full scholarships are available to attend.
