FSU football heads into a pivotal third year under head coach Mike Norvell. The Noles have an 8-13 record in his tenure after inheriting a team with roster holes at multiple positions and a year lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The coaching staff has taken advantage of the transfer portal to expedite filling the roster holes while supplementing their high school recruiting with quality players they can develop.

It’s been quite the juggling act, finding players that can immediately contribute, impact culture positively, and providing time for younger players to develop and contribute.

We enter into the second full spring camp with fewer questions than we had this time last year. We know Jordan Travis is the starting quarterback, and the defense returns multiple starters at every level.

The Noles have 21 new players that enrolled this spring, nine transfer portal players, and 12 high school players. Those players represent nearly 25 percent of the 85 scholarship players for FSU football.

Think about it, a quarter of the scholarship players will be new. I expect two, maybe three of those high school players to contribute in 2022, with all the transfers likely contributing. Let’s discuss the importance and impact of this 2022 spring camp.
