The Roswell City Council and Chaves County Commission will have a special joint meeting to discuss development at the Roswell Air Center and redistricting.
The meeting will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Fire Station No. 4 at the Roswell Air Center. The meeting will be available virtually through GoToMeeting. The city council and county commission will meet for two action items. The first is a joint resolution expressing mutual support for infrastructure development projects at the Air Center.
The second joint item is to discuss and consider approval of redistricting ward maps as presented by Rod Adair of New Mexico Demographic Research.
Following those two items, the city council will consider two more items. The first will be to advertise a public hearing on a proposed ordinance to establish ward boundaries in the city.

The proposed resolution would not change the existing boundaries of the city’s five wards, but would revise a section of city code to more specifically describe some of the designations of the county’s sub-precincts within the boundaries of each ward.
The council will also consider approving a resolution creating a municipal infrastructure reimbursement program to encourage more housing development. The council discussed the resolution at its Oct. 14 meeting but voted to table it until a later date.
A closed session for the city council is also scheduled to discuss attorney-client privilege matters related to pending litigation involving Dean Baldwin Painting and personnel matters in the Utility Billing Department.
