The Cleveland Browns got an absolute steal in former Notre Dame Football star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, who was ranked their top impact rookie for 2021.
A few weeks back, we looked at the fact that Notre Dame Football star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah was likely to start for the Cleveland Browns as a rookie. As a second-round pick, that is usually the case, but JOK is not just any second-round pick.
In fact, heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, many felt that JOK could go as high as No. 9 overall, as he is a rare blend of size and speed from his linebacker position. Also, JOK is an elite coverage linebacker, something that is definitely needed in today’s NFL.
So when he started falling into the second round, something was up, and it turned out to be a heart issue that was clarified immediately. That shied some teams away, but the Browns hit the lottery by getting him all the way at No. 52 overall.
Notre Dame Football star to shine with Browns
Recently, Daily Dawg Pound, the Cleveland Browns site on the FanSided network, released their top-3 impact rookies for the 2021 season. No. 1 was JOK, who is going to be a dominant player at the next level from Day 1.
JOK has already shown himself to be an elite athlete early in OTAs, which has to have this Browns franchise excited. Remember, they made it all the way to the Divisional Round this past season, and Owusu-Koramoah would be the final piece to the puzzle on a defense that added talent via free agency as well this offseason.
JOK will join a defense that added Jadeveon Clowney and Takkarist McKinley off the edge in free agency, while also selecting Northwestern CB Greg Newsome in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Of all the NFL teams, Newsome and JOK may be the best first-and-second round tandem taken.
Also, there is no reason to think that not only will JOK have a major impact on the Browns in 2021, but he could end up being the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. His skill set is perfect for the pro games, and while he may have fallen during the draft, he is going to be one of the elite rookies in the NFL this season.
