The High Point University women's basketball team will host Mount Olive in The Qubein Center, a $170 million state-of-the-art facility and will be one of the finest collegiate basketball facilities in the country. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
 
The Qubein Center is named after current High Point University President Nido Qubein and his wife, Mariana Qubein. President Qubein is an alumnus of High Point University and has been president at HPU since 2005. President Nido Qubein began his American college education at the University of Mount Olive and completed his undergraduate degree at High Point University. To represent President Qubein's important ties to both universities, the Trojans were selected as the first game to open the Qubein Center.
 
Across the Bench
Mount Olive was 7-7 a season ago, Senior #2 Azariah Fields led the Trojans in scoring average a season ago. Fields scored 186 on the season in 13 games averaging 14.3 points a game.
 
Mount Olive is led by Head Coach Wendy Lee who was hired in 2000 and has been the coach of the Trojans ever since. Lee was recognized in May of 2018 by the Conference Carolinas league office with the Milestone Award. A coach receiving the 'Milestone Award' has surpassed 200 career wins in soccer or lacrosse; 250 wins in basketball, tennis or volleyball; 500 in baseball or softball; or 15 years of coaching in golf, cross country or track. Lee hit the 275-career win mark at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Banbury is Back
Head coach Chelsea Banbury is entering her third season at the helm. She was named the fifth Division I head coach of High Point University's women's basketball team in June 2019. Banbury has a 38-20 record at High Point through her first two seasons.
 
The Champs Are Here
In 2020-21, Banbury led the Panthers to their third Big South regular season championship and their first ever Big South Tournament Championship after going 22-7 on the year. The Panthers entered the NCAA Tournament as a 16-seed but fell to No. 1 UConn in the first round. High Point will seek to build off a spectacular season and advance to back-to-back national tournaments.

 
Panthers Enter as Preseason No. 1
High Point was selected as the preseason No. 1 in the Big South while Skyler Curran and Jenson Edwards both earned Big South Preseason honors. Curran was named Big South Preseason Player of the Year after leading the team in scoring last season (17.7 points/game) while Edwards earned Big South Preseason Second Team recognition. Edwards also garnered the Becky Hammond Mid-Major Player of the Year Award after she posted the fifth-highest scoring average in the Big South with a total of 14.6 points per game.

As a team the Panthers finished 21st in NCAA Division I three-point percentage last season, shooting 36.5% from the three-point line. High Point returns their top two 3-point shooters from 2020-21 in Jenson Edwards (41.8%), Skyler Curran (41.0%).
