Blandford Nature Center named its next president and CEO.

The nonprofit’s board of directors on Thursday, Nov. 18, said it selected Jack Woller to succeed Jason Meyer, who served in the position for over seven years.

“It is an incredible honor to be joining the Blandford Nature Center team and continue the vision and stewardship of Mary Jane Dockeray,” Woller said. “Under Jason and the board’s leadership, the organization has experienced phenomenal growth, built beautiful new facilities, and delivered innovative collaborations like The Highlands Project with the Land Conservancy of West Michigan, and I am excited to keep that momentum going. However, we are just getting started, and our commitment to inclusive, impactful experiences in nature has never been more important. Exciting things are on the horizon.”

Woller will assume his new role on Nov. 29. He will work alongside the board, staff, partners and the community to “ensure the organization can continue to adapt and connect as many people as possible to nature.”

“We are excited that Jack has agreed to join us on our journey forward as an organization,” said Ryan Podvin, chair of the Blandford Nature Center board of directors. “The future looks bright under his leadership.”

Woller previously was a principal at id3 Creative, a UX designer at ThoughtFull Design, executive director at Fountain Street Church and associate director and creative director at the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum.

He also serves on the board of directors at The Diatribe, treasurer of the board of Festival of the Arts and a committee member to Honor Cesar E. Chavez. He previously served as a board member of the West Michigan Gay Men’s Chorus.

“His commitment to nature, our entire community and our mission were undeniable during the interview process,” said Eric Steindler, chair of the search committee.

During Meyer’s tenure as president and CEO, the Mary Jane Dockeray Visitor Center was constructed, a seven-figure endowment was created and The Highlands golf course was acquired in partnership with the Land Conservancy of West Michigan.

“I could not be more excited about the board’s choice to bring Jack into this role,” Meyer said. “He clearly has the energy, the vision and the leadership skills to take Blandford to the next level.”
