After years of careful planning, The Hope Center is finally ready to open. The organizers say the center will provide a place for children and young adults to learn and grow. The facility will bring together services from Dayton Children’s Hospital and Sinclair Community College. American Sign Language preschools and other community nonprofits will be involved as well. Local leaders hope it will serve the unique needs of families in Northwest Dayton.
Vanessa Ward is the president of Omega Community Development Corporation. She says that the goal for the Center is to reduce poverty in Dayton.
“We began to explore this model, called the two generation model for reduction of poverty," said Ward, "which says you bring children along educationally and their adult parents at the same time.”
There will be a grand opening and a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday. The event will be streamed virtually at the Hope Center Dayton website.
