A potent trough is moving across the western United States, keeping the northwest very unsettled through early next week. Read more here. The upper level low stretches all the way to the southwest once again, pulling in moisture.
Showers and storms will get going early on Friday, especially across the desert southwest.
Showers and storms will favor Nevada and Utah through Friday afternoon and evening, before this system ejects eastward by Saturday.
Saturday is generally a quieter day, with some showers sitting across the four-corners region. That upper level low that we were tracking above sets up across the south central region by Sunday.
A surface low pressure and front will work together with the energy aloft to bring the severe weather threat to the I-35 corridor by Sunday. Plenty of moisture will be drawn into the region.
