Ten months after announcing intentions to expand to the Roswell Air Center, David T. Querio, right, president of Ascent Aviation Services, talked Wednesday with local business and government leaders about why his Arizona-based company wants to set up shop in Roswell and what the aircraft maintenance and repair business expects to accomplish here. Querio was keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corp. held at the Instructional Technology Center on the Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell campus. He is shown with wife Valerie, who grew up in Midway, and Pioneer Bank President Christopher Palmer, current EDC chairman. Ascent Aviation plans to have its new wide-body hangar “fully operational” by the end of June 2022, with an expected starting payroll of about $7 million. Querio said that amount is anticipated to grow to $22 million within the first five years of operations. (Lisa Dunlap Photo)
