Kane County is opening a new Recycling Center in Aurora, in partnership with eWorks Electronics Services and VetTech!
The great news is that there will now be a Recycling Center in Northern (West Dundee), Central (Batavia), and Southern (Aurora) Kane County, providing convenient electronics recycling for all residents.
The Aurora Recycling Center will officially open on Monday, June 21. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
We’ll provide some details below, but before you scroll down, I’d like to say a few nice words about our partners — and why this Recycling Center is more than a little bit special.
Vet Tech US, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to a long-term and prosperous relationship with communities in need. They support individuals and initiatives dedicated to promoting community development, prosperity, and innovation, which is part of the reason they have partnered with the county and eWorks to host the new recycling center at their facility in Aurora.
Vet Tech US, NFP is dedicated to a long-term and prosperous relationship with communities in need and will intentionally support individuals and initiatives dedicated to promoting community development, prosperity, and innovation. Vet Tech US is committed to leading by example to continually foster an environment of inclusivity, cultural competency, and opportunity for veterans, their families and all protected classes.
Vet Tech focuses on servant leaders as partners, because they find that if they serve those who serve others, the impact is far greater than a one-time grant award or economic support to one project or organization.
Their strategy is a direct, sustainable, and long-term investment in those individuals who are community pillars, supporting their mission, so they can do what they do best — solve community problems.
Members of Vet Tech US started out focused on community-based advocacy that brought together agencies and organizations to ensure every service member, Veterans and their families had access to safe, decent, and affordable housing, employment, and supportive services.
Vet Tech US was established to create attainable solutions to complex veteran and now all protected class issues, through effective collaboration, sharing information, knowing the POC’s (Point Of Contact)’s, maximizing funding sources and referral networks within providers and agencies, consistent advocacy for change for Veterans and their families and all minority persons and protected classes in Illinois.

Costs
Most electronics are free to drop off, but monitors (all types, flat screen or glass tube) and TVs/Televisions (all types, all ages, flat screen or glass tube) do have a cost to recycle.
- $25 fee for screens under 21 inches (measured diagonally)
- $35 fee for screens 21 inches or over (measured diagonally)
Payment guidelines:
- Online: You may pay online in advance for any TVs or monitors and bring your printed receipt with you. You will need to show the printed receipt.
- Card: You can pay by credit card at the time of delivery.
- Cash: Cash payments must be the exact amount. Change will not be given.
Why is there a fee on TVs and Monitors?
TVs and monitors contain lead and/or mercury and must be processed as hazardous material, a more expensive process that makes the consumer-based fee a necessity.
The fee is paid directly to the County’s contracted electronics recycler – eWorks, a non-profit that employs people with developmental disabilities. You are helping a good cause and responsibly disposing of your used electronics!
Data Security
Kane County contracts with eWorks Recycling Services, located in Elk Grove Village. All data stored on computer hard drives will be completely erased or destroyed under the highest security (meeting all FACTA privacy protection requirements).
They use the BLANCO data erasure software and the Department of Defense Standard 7-pass kill disk.
This applies to all Kane County Recycling Centers and events, as well as the Naperville site which is also managed and served by eWorks.
