ELKINS — The Augusta Heritage Center of Davis & Elkins College and their many community partners have collaborated to plan a week of live music events in downtown Elkins from Wednesday through Saturday. These concerts and music-making opportunities feature master artists from around the region.
On Wednesday at 7 p.m., Chance McCoy, Grammy-winning guitarist from Old Crow Medicine Show, will lead an open old-time jam at El Gran Sabor. Weather permitting, this event will take place on the front deck. All levels of experience are welcome, acoustic instruments only.
On Thursday at 6 p.m., McCoy will be joined by Justin Golden for a concert in the Elkins Rotary Amphitheater. Augusta is teaming up with Our Town, Inc. and Mountain State Street Machines to bring you this free concert. Golden, a traditional Piedmont-style blues musician from Richmond, Virginia, will open for McCoy. Audience members are encouraged to bring camp chairs. Rain location will be the Augusta Pavilion on the campus of D&E.
On Friday at 7:30 p.m., Golden will lead a traditional blues jam at El Gran Sabor. This event will give music lovers a taste of Augusta’s storied blues week, with opportunities for playing along as well as listening.
On Saturday at 7 p.m., Augusta will finish the week of musical events with a free concert at the Elkins Rotary Amphitheater with bluegrass supergroup The Seldom Scene. Rain location is Harper-McNeely Auditorium on the campus of D&E.

Donations are welcome at all events and help the Augusta Heritage Center to plan future traditional arts projects in downtown Elkins. Support has been provided for these events by Davis Trust, Our Town, Inc., Davis Medical Center, Elkins-Randolph County Tourism CVB, The National Endowment for the Arts, The West Virginia Humanities Council, and the West Virginia Department of Arts, Culture, and History.
