Center Valley Animal Rescue will kick off its spring online auction, “For the Love of Animals,” on Saturday, May 15.
The benefit will raise funds for the Quilcene nonprofit’s activities on behalf of wild and domestic animals in the community.
Organizers said the week-long auction will culminate in a final night of frenzied bidding and fun on Saturday, May 22 with a live-streaming web event and special guests.
“We expect this year’s auction to be even more successful than last year’s,” said Sara Penhallegon, director of Center Valley Animal Rescue.
“As much as people like getting together to support the animals, it’s turned out to be a lot of fun — and just as successful — when we do it online,” Penhallegon added.
Registration for the auction is open and takes place at https://fortheloveofanimals.maxgiving.bid; auction items are already on display on the website.
The annual event was previously held live and in-person but has moved online to comply with COVID-19 safety measures.
Last year, Center Valley Animal Rescue’s annual auction was delayed from its original date in spring and held online for the first time in October due to the pandemic.
The online event includes the auction itself, a “raise the paddle” donation drive with a $40,000 matching gift, and Center Valley Animal Rescue apparel items, including shirts and hoodie sweatshirts for purchase. All net proceeds go to support the organization and its work on behalf of the community’s wild and domestic animals.
Interested supporters must go to https://fortheloveofanimals.maxgiving.bid to register for the event.
Registration is free, but for an additional $50 or $75, participants can also purchase a limited edition T-shirt ($50) or both a T-shirt and a delicious, catered vegetarian or vegan meal ($75, while supplies last) made by Crescent Moon Catering of Port Orchard.
The auction will be held at the same website: https://fortheloveofanimals.maxgiving.bid.
Bidding “For the Love of Animals” opens at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, May 15 and continues for a week.
As bidding continues Saturday, May 22, a “live” streaming event will be viewable online at 5:30 p.m. via YouTube, with bidding ending that night at 11 p.m.
Winning bidders will be notified beginning the following week regarding arrangements for pickup or shipping of their items.
