Public To Have Opportunity To Weigh In On Sioux Center Highway 75 Project - KIWARadio.com

Sioux Center, Iowa — The public has a chance to weigh in on some aspects of the Highway 75 project in Sioux Center.

A number of years ago, the Iowa Department of Transportation had pushed for a five-lane alignment, which didn’t go over well with the people of Sioux Center. The highway is to be redone in the somewhat near future, in a way that officials hope will be the best of both worlds — the throughput of several years ago when the highway was 4-lane undivided through town, but a safety factor similar to or better than what it is now.

The public will have a chance to review the Highway 75 preliminary design and discuss it with the design team at a public information meeting set for this coming Tuesday, April 20, from 5-7 p.m.

The open house will be a come-and-go event at Terrace View Event Center, allowing for social distancing, with English/Spanish interpretation available.

Sioux Center Utilities Manager Murray Hulstein says that it’s is an opportunity for people to take a look at the preliminary design for the project from end to end. He says it will give a closer look at the proposed placement of curbs, medians, and sidewalks along the whole project. He says, “Drawings will also show planned improvements to intersections and other areas to help meet our project goals of functionality, safety, and a design that reflects Sioux Center’s character.”

An online option will also be available for people to review the information virtually and share feedback or questions.
