Brush, grass fires impact Uinta, Iron County from dry weather conditions - KJZZ

Several grass fires in Uinta County invoked a warning from emergency responders on Saturday.

Crews battled a 49-acre fire in the Bridger Valley caused by the wind whipping a controlled burn to an out-of-control status.

Conditions are dry and the county issued the following recommendation:

Just a reminder to use caution when burning and be mindful of our conditions.

Another fire was reported Sunday caused by some burning on private property in Bear River.

Conditions are warm and dry and caution is urged. Evanston crews contained the fire quickly and to under two acres.

An 18-acre brush fire of weeds and dry vegetation also occurred on the west side of Cedar City Saturday afternoon.

According to St. George News, the fire had started in the vacant fields south of approximately 4200 West and Center Street, in the neighborhoods south of Iron Springs Elementary.

The blaze was rapidly blown northward by the wind. However, the fast-moving fire stopped its northward progression when it reached Center Street and did not jump across that road, the article stated.
