A.J. Swoboda will be the guest speaker at Faith Center in Eureka on March 27 and 28. He will speak on “A Glorious Dark,” based on the silence of Saturday that followed the crucifixion.
Swoboda is assistant professor of Bible, theology, and world Christianity at Bushnell University in Eugene, Oregon, and the author of “After Doubt,” “Subversive Sabbath,” “The Dusty Ones” and “A Glorious Dark,” which addresses the ambiguity, doubt and uncertainty people feel when their beliefs about the world don’t match up to reality. Tackling tough questions like Why is faith so hard? Why do I doubt? Why does God allow me to suffer? and Is God really with me in the midst of my pain?, Swoboda will put into sharp focus a faith that is greater than personal comfort or fulfilment.
