Condell Medical Center in Libertyville is resuming its coronavirus vaccination program after hitting pause for a day when four employees experienced adverse reactions.

Injections will resume Sunday at the medical center “following a thorough internal review – including infectious disease and clinical experts across our system,” Advocate Aurora Health officials said in a statement.

Vaccinations were halted Friday night after four employees experienced a tingling sensation and elevated heart rates after getting their doses, officials said.

One of the cases appeared to be a severe allergic reaction, but that person was doing well after being discharged from the hospital Saturday after being monitored overnight, officials said.

The other three people were at home and “doing well after experiencing reactions that can happen with vaccination,” officials said.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we have increased our post-vaccine evaluation period to 30 minutes for all individuals across all our sites,” officials said, noting that the additional time exceeds federal guidelines.

So far, about 6,000 staff members in the hospital’s health system have gotten the vaccine, officials said.
