County Executive Tom DeGise Visits Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center to Thank Staff For Efforts in Fighting COVID-19
Hudson County Task Force has Vaccinated 500 Individuals in First Week of Opening
KEARNY, N.J. — On Tuesday morning, County Executive Tom DeGise visited the USS Juneau Center, Office of Emergency Management, home to Hudson County’s first Vaccine Distribution Center, to thank staff and frontline workers for their continued efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. Tuesday marked the fourth day the vaccine center has been open for individuals in Phase 1A of the state’s distribution schedule, and over 500 essential healthcare workers will have been vaccinated there by the end of day.
“Since the beginning of the pandemic, Hudson County has put itself at the forefront of responding to this health crisis and our frontline workers have played an essential role in keeping our residents safe and healthy,” said County Executive Tom DeGise. “Today, I was honored to meet with several of our healthcare heroes at the Hudson County Vaccine Distribution Center and personally thank them for going above and beyond to combat this virus. The hopefulness and optimism inside the center is palpable, but our response to the winter months are critical. Right now, we remain committed to working with local leaders and stakeholders to continue investing all of our resources into robust testing and vaccinating operations.”
The Vaccine Distribution Center is operated by the Hudson County Vaccine Task Force, which is overseen by County Executive Tom DeGise and the Hudson Regional Health Commission, and began administering vaccination on Wednesday. The center is open by appointment only for doctors and nurses within private practices, dentists, hygienists, community and public health workers, funeral directors, paid and unpaid Emergency Medical Technicians, and those working in labs with infectious material.
Testing is still being offered at the County Testing Site in partnership with Hudson Regional Hospital in Secaucus.
