So we can’t travel to Europe or even go to the State Fair of Texas, but we can look forward to a store that’s everything Italian. Eataly is still on schedule for a Dallas opening in 2020.

Construction is ongoing for the three-level Eataly food hall and Italian grocery on the Boedecker Street side of NorthPark Center.

The company has started recruiting for 11 top jobs, including managers for grocery, bakery, human resources, warehouse and wine. It’s also recruiting fish mongers, a pasta maker and chefs.

An Eataly store is on schedule to open this year in London, but Dallas is the only U.S. location the company has scheduled to open this year. It hasn’t set an exact date for the Dallas store’s opening yet.

“At this time, we’re still planning to open in 2020,” an Eataly spokeswoman said in an email. “We continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation, inclusive of how new regulations could impact construction.”

Late last year, Eataly opened its first Canadian store in Toronto.

Its Las Vegas store is still temporarily closed. Other locations in New York, Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles are operating their restaurants at reduced local capacities and offer takeout, curbside and delivery.

The grocery and wine shops are open to customers.

Dallas will be the Italian brand’s first store in Texas, and no other new U.S. stores have been announced. The company operates 12 stores in Italy and a total of 39 around the world.
