Data center provider Stream Data Centers is leaning on Cox Business' fiber network for its new data center campus in Goodyear, Arizona.
The Goodyear data center combines Phoenix West Valley's largest data center campus with Cox Business' portfolio of services including connectivity, security, video, voice, colocation, managed services and cloud offerings, all of which is supported by a team of local experts.
In addition to having access to Cox Business' services, Stream's customers will also be able to interconnect their Stream services with other data centers, or to their local offices, via either dark fiber or internet transport services with speeds up to 100 Gbps.
With the first of five buildings for the Phoenix I data center slated to go live next month, Stream said it was developing the area’s largest multi-tenant campus in the West Valley in Phoenix.
Arizona’s generous tax incentives for large data center customers, low risk of disaster and the presence of a massive onsite APS substation make the state an ideal location for large customer deployments. Phoenix has become one of the nation's fastest growing data center markets.
Stream’s customer base is made up of Fortune 500 and hyperscale cloud providers, which pairs well with Cox Business’ ability to deliver low latency, diverse dark fiber route options to those customers
"Cox Business has invested more than one billion dollars in Arizona, over the last decade, in expanding its Arizona network to help the Phoenix Metropolitan Area become one of the most connected regions,” said Ed Aaronson, vice president of Cox Business, in a statement. “Data centers are a key component to the economic growth of our community. Our collaboration with Stream Data Centers illustrates the importance of blending data centers and connectivity. This is critical for our local businesses as they compete in a rapidly growing, data-driven economy."
At less than 24 miles from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Stream’s 157-acre Goodyear Campus will offer 2 million square feet of data center space across five buildings supported by a 350 MW onsite APS substation. For businesses, cloud providers and large enterprises, the data center offers not only the space for IT infrastructure and colocation, but also sub-2 millisecond round-trip latency to all major carrier hotels in the region.
Colocation facilities are taking on added importance as enterprises embark on their digital transformations. Enterprises and service providers are moving into colocation facilities so they can connect to the cloud, to IoT applications and services, and to other enterprises and service providers.
A colocation site is a data center facility where a business can rent space for servers and other computing hardware. Most colocation facilities include the building, cooling, power, bandwidth and physical security, while the customer provides servers and storage.
Dallas, Texas-based Stream Data Centers was founded in 1999, To date, the company has acquired and developed over 2.5 million square feet of data center space nationally, representing more than 250 megawatts of power.
