Crestview Hills Town Center closed early Saturday "due to online threats," police announced on Facebook.
The Lakeside Park-Crestview Hills Police Department Facebook page posted that police are on the scene and that no one will be allowed to enter the mall property.
In a press release, police stated that an Instagram post from Monday led to the closure. Police said the post called "for a riot on June 6th to raid the Crestview Hills Town Center at 9 pm."
The post was removed after detectives contacted Instagram, police said. But the post has come up on other social media platforms since.
Police decided to close the property at 8 p.m. Saturday. The release states all businesses and restaurants in the town center woulid resume their normal business hours Sunday.
This investigation is ongoing, police said. An increased police presence on the Town Center property was displayed Saturday evening "to ensure that trespassing laws can be enforced."
Police ask the public to stay out of the Crestview Hills Town Center Saturday evening.
