The Los Angeles Rams are one of the best teams in the NFL when it comes to collecting compensatory picks in the NFL draft. They’re awarded extra picks for losing players in free agency, ranging from the third round to the seventh.

This year, the Rams landed five extra picks in the 2022 draft for their free-agent losses last offseason, and they should earn a handful in next year’s draft, too. But the signing of Allen Robinson, since he was an unrestricted free agent, does impact the formula for the Rams.

According to Nick Korte of Over The Cap, Robinson cancels out the Rams’ highest compensatory pick, which is a fifth-rounder for losing Von Miller to the Bills. The Rams are still projected to receive the maximum of four compensatory picks, though.

It’s just that instead of three fifth-rounders and a sixth, they’re on track to earn two fifths, one sixth and a seventh. That’s still a nice haul of Day 3 picks, assuming the Rams don’t sign any other free agents who would cancel out their current projected selections.

Next year, the Rams won’t have their first- or fourth-round picks due to the Matthew Stafford and Sony Michel trades. They will have two sixth-rounders after trading Corey Bojorquez to the Packers last year.

There’s still plenty of time for Les Snead and the Rams to make another trade or two involving 2023 draft picks, though.
