Lincoln Center is preparing for weeks of outdoor concerts and performances in a prpgram called Restart Stages, and artist Mimi Lien has covered the central Josie Robertson Plaza in a field of green. It’s actually a soy-based product that looks like grass. One tipster likened it to a “mini-golf” course.
There are other changes in the works too, and Lincoln center is planning to hold events in all sorts of unique spots — including having performers indoors or on balconies play to people gathered outside. The shows will start on Monday, May 10. The Restart Stages homepage is here and people can sign up for a ticket lottery here.
New York Times reporter Michael Paulson shared some more photos and insight on Twitter:
The pièce de résistance is the green that Mimi Lien has designed around the fountain. It will be used for performance, but also for lounging. The grass is synthetic, but is partly made of soy-based product from American farmers. The curved furniture echoes the @MetOpera arches. pic.twitter.com/hEKamr32jG

The "Restart Stages" program will include a jazz club on a driveway; rehearsals and reading room on balconies; live music piped from indoor performers to outdoor viewers in a sunken plaza; and sheep puppets (seriously) on a sloped green roof. This is the cabaret area: pic.twitter.com/4hgDMLSJaA

There are reminders of all that is still inaccessible — like these ballet posters with no performances listed. Plus, of course, the buildings are closed. pic.twitter.com/DnOHxBHmu3

Capacity for summer programs will be limited, and early demand has outstripped ticket supply (most stuff is free, via digital lottery on @TodayTix). Also expected: poetry readings, sound installation, family programming, and visual art. This piece is by @Alonglastname. pic.twitter.com/qwOZ2XNkfM
