DULUTH, Minn. – If you’re looking for a new activity to try this summer, the Gary New Duluth Rec Center is now offering youth archery camps!
The center received a grant from the DNR called “No Child Left Inside” that allowed them to purchase targets, bows and arrows. Now, kids will have the chance try this new sport all summer long.
“It’s really a sport and a lost art and it’s just a wonderful pastime. We talked a little bit about hunting and the culture of hunting in Northeast Minnesota. But it takes a lot of practice, it takes a lot of discipline and the kids are so excited when they hit the target, not even the bullseye, just the target at all, when you hear that THWACK, they get super excited,” youth director of the GND Rec Center Leslie Bucar said.
