A former Addison sports facility is getting a reboot as a corporate office.
The former Inwood Soccer Center on Inwood Road near Belt Line has been sold to a construction company that will reuse the building for its corporate headquarters.
Cherry Coatings, does new construction painting, industrial flooring and maintenance coatings, is moving from Carrollton to the three acre property.
Until recent months, the 56,000-square-foot building had housed the operations of a soccer training and competition facility.
The operators of the complex in October announced the closing after 35 years of business.
Cherry Coatings will remodel the buildings for to house its 75 corporate workers plus warehouse and loading space.
The 53-year-old company also has offices in Austin, Fort Worth, Houston and Nashville.
“As part of our growth initiative, Cherry Coatings is proud to strengthen our Dallas presence with 14801 Inwood as our new headquarters, offering our employees a top-notch workplace,” Zack Cherry, CEO of Cherry Coatings, said in a statement. “With our employees spread across D-FW suburbs, Addison offered a central location with easy highway access.
“It’s an honor to move into a new space and be able to carry on the tradition and sense of nostalgia the Inwood Soccer Center generated for many people within the community for more than 30 years.”
Robert Lynn and Chad Albert with NAI Robert Lynn negotiated the property sale.
With the remodel, the white domed portion of the former sports complex will be used by employees for recreational activities.
Dallas architect BOKA Powell redesigned the buildings for the new corporate office. McCarthy Building Cos. is the general contractor.
Along with offices the renovations will create space for a training room and an indoor break room that opens onto a large outdoor courtyard.
Construction will start in early 2021, with a move-in scheduled for the fall.
“With the need for a bigger space for their corporate employees, warehouse and commercial vehicles, they were looking for a solution that provided opportunities for growth and flexibility,” broker Chad Albert said. “This was also a special project for me because as a kid, my friends and I frequently had our birthday parties at the Inwood Soccer Center.
“It feels appropriate for this property to be sold to a company like Cherry who will carry on its iconic legacy.”
