Impact Ventures to Host a Spring Virtual Startup Showcase and $50K Pitch Competition » Dallas Innovates - dallasinnovates.com

Dallas-based Impact Ventures is gearing up to present its bi-annual flagship event to celebrate its accelerator program and create generational wealth through inclusive entrepreneurship and integrated capital.

The live virtual event—called “Equity in Motion” and sponsored by JPMorgan Chase, Jabian Consulting, and Capital One—will feature 20 women, Black, and Latinx-led tech startups and small businesses from across North Texas and various parts of the country. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear startups pitch to a live audience in a “Shark Tank”-style competition for $50,000, as well as participate in live virtual networking, community partner expo booths, and featured breakout sessions led by experts.

Topics include “Building Power Through Community-Engaged Investing,” “The Future of Work, Live, Learn, and Play,” and “The Role of Philanthropy in Entrepreneurship.”

The showcase is a celebration of Impact Ventures’ latest accelerator program, which is supported by Communities Foundation of Texas W.W. Caruth, Jr. Fund, Capital One, Santander Foundation, Truist Foundation, and Deloitte.

The event is the second of the year following the virtual startup showcase in January. There, Dallas-based AlgoPear, an automated stock trading marketplace, took the top prize among 13 other startups and small businesses.

Since then, Impact Ventures has been busy. The Dallas-based nonprofit startup accelerator recently received its largest gift to date, a three-year grant totaling $450K from the Communities Foundation of Texas’ W.W. Caruth, Jr. Fund.

And, in addition to using the funding to grow its own program, Impact Ventures is using it to help fund other entrepreneurs in the area.

Impact Ventures recently launched the Dallas Inclusive Capital Fund and initiative to lend and invest $20 million to Women and BIPOC led enterprises over the next 10-years. The fund is a place-based integrated capital fund investing flexible debt and patient equity to build economic power and create community wealth.

With “Equity in Motion,” the nonprofit is furthering its mission of empowering talented, yet under-estimated women and communities of color to create generational wealth through inclusive entrepreneurship and integrated capital.

“The height of the pandemic shined a bright light on the inequities that existed for minorities seeking to create wealth through entrepreneurship. Many businesses were not able to get access to government funding and had little to no knowledge or relationships with their local banker,” Benjamin Vann, founder and CEO of Impact Ventures, said in a statement.

Through this event, Impact Ventures is continuing to accelerate and invest in all shades of genius by offering resources to those who participate in the accelerator to build and scale their businesses while eliminating social and economic barriers.

Impact Ventures’ Virtual Startup Showcase and $50K Pitch Competition is Saturday, July 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can find more information or sign up here.
