State Auditor and Democratic candidate Nicole Galloway toured the Jordan Valley Health Center on Monday and called the center a “model” for public health care facilities across the state.
“What’s clear is that health centers like Jordan Valley are doing critical work in urban and rural parts of our communities to give people the help they need,” Galloway told reporters. “Community health centers like Jordan Valley are key to making sure all Missourians have access to quality health care.”
Galloway was on a campaign swing to promote her plans regarding health care in Missouri, Medicaid expansion, and a desire to make sure pre-existing conditions are covered by insurers in the state.
Galloway told reporters that she would “stop the purges” of children from the Medicaid rolls, and blamed Governor Parson for the purging, although she did not explain how the governor himself was responsible for it. She also did not explain how she would actually make the changes she is calling to have take place.
When asked about the recent $1 million grant Jordan Valley received from the federal government, Galloway said it’s the governor’s job to keep those funds flowing.
“I believe that it is the job of the governor to work with our federal delegation to get as many resources into our state as possible,” Galloway said. “When there are grant opportunities like that, we need to seize those opportunities.”
Galloway then praised Jordan Valley for their “unique” efforts and said they are a model for the state.
“I would say [Jordan Valley Community Health Center] is a model for other place the state,” Galloway said. “They provide services at a low cost, dental care, medical care, mental health care, addiction treatment services…they’re very patient focused and I think sometimes that’s missing when it comes to providing services.”
