For the first time in a long time, a true freshman will be starting on WVU’s offensive line this afternoon.
Following the suspension of starting center Chase Behrndt, true freshman Zach Frazier will reportedly be starting in his place in the team’s season-opener against Eastern Kentucky. According to Greg Hunter of Blue Gold News, this will be the first time a true freshman starts on WVU’s offensive line in 40 years.
Looks like Zach Frazier is going to get the start at center. According to my research he will be the first true freshman offensive lineman to start a game for WVU in at least 40 years. Blaine Scott and Noah Drummond backing up Frazier.

Frazier was the No. 2 rated player in West Virginia coming out of Fairmont Senior High School last season. He committed to WVU over other offers from Louisville, Marshall, Standford, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
In addition to Behrndt, starting left guard Junior Uzebu was also suspended on WVU’s offensive line. 11 players in total were suspended for the season-opener.
