TRANSFER TRACKER STATUS: Signing

The LA Galaxy have signed defender Nick DePuy from their USL Championship side LA Galaxy II, the club announced Wednesday. The 25-year-old Irvine, Calif.-native returns to MLS after a previous stint with the Montreal Impact, and joins the first team after a standout year with Los Dos, where he was named the club's defender of the year.

“Nick has shown promise in his career with LA Galaxy II and we are confident in his ability to play at an MLS level,” said LA Galaxy GM Dennis te Kloese in a statement. “He was one of our most consistent defenders last season for Los Dos and we believe he will grow in his role on the first team. We look forward to Nick continuing to represent this club.”

DePuy played 1,901 minutes with 26 appearances and 21 starts for Galaxy II last season, anchoring a line that helped the team earn a place in the 2019 USL Championship Playoffs.

DePuy originally signed with the Impact in 2017 to begin his professional career after being selected by the Impact with the 19th pick in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft. He made five appearances and one start before going on loan to Ottawa Fury FC.
