5 Things to Know About #FCDvMTL

Maxi Returns
Former FC Dallas forward Maxi Urruti will return to Toyota Stadium with the Montreal Impact for the first time since making the move north of the border after the 2018 season. The Argentine ace scored 29 goals over three seasons in Dallas, helping them to the MLS Supporters’ Shield and U.S. Open Cup double in 2016. FC Dallas faced Urruti last season in Montreal and battled back from three goals down to earn a dramatic 3-3 tie at Saputo Stadium.

Doubleheader with North Texas SC
Saturday is the first doubleheader of the year at Toyota Stadium. Directly following FC Dallas vs. Montreal, reigning USL League One champs North Texas SC take on SMU Men’s Soccer team in a preseason friendly as preparation for the second-ever League One season which begins March 28, 2020. The second and final doubleheader of the year will take place on April 4 when FC Dallas faces Los Angeles FC at 2:30PM before North Texas plays Orlando City B in its 2020 home opener.

Luchi vs. Thierry
Head coach Luchi Gonzalez will face off with one of the game’s greats on Saturday. Thierry Henry was appointed by Montreal in November of last year and has been tasked with taking the club back to the playoffs after a three-season absence. Henry’s reign started positively with a first-round victory over Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa in the Concacaf Champions League and a 2-1 win against New England Revolution last weekend to kick off their MLS season.

Against Montreal
FC Dallas has a 5-1-2 all-time record against Montreal, including a perfect 4-0-0 record against them when playing at Toyota Stadium. Last season, Dallas travelled to Saputo Stadium and earned a 3-3 comeback draw after being three goals down in the second half.

About Montreal
Last season, Montreal narrowly missed the playoffs after finishing in ninth place in the Eastern Conference with 41 points. The Impact started the new MLS season with a 2-1 comeback win last weekend over New England Revolution with goals from Romell Quioto and Maxi Urruti.
